The Gabriela Dias Foundation is a proud Sponsor of the Sour Milk Art Show 2018 who has also teamed up with Longo Realty to organize a cultural event that combines visual art, music, tasty treats, and real estate.

Curators Ben Quesnel and Christine Stiver have brought together a group of 22 contemporary artists into a vacant house to complete an immersive renovation of their distinctive visions with a belief that empty spaces, overgrown with weeds and collecting dust, are opportunities for transformation.

The artists transfigure, mutate, create and then destroy. With their creativity, and power to create anything they wish; nothing is the limit for one day.

Riffing on the formerly domestic space, the artists in the inaugural show play with what the possibilities of “home” means, meant and could become. Some recyclable objects culled from their personal dwellings; some create paintings, performances and installations that reference and rehearse family histories; some create work that explores transplantation and adaptation to foreign homes. Simone Kearney catapults the mundane to the comical in her absurd table settings. Aaron Johnson reclaims old socks to make over the top, grotesque characters. As a homage to his mother, Karen, who recently passed away, Jim Condron compassionately combines her clothes and shoes with yarrow and straw, stuffing and twisting them into uncanny forms. Joe Bun Keo works toward understanding his son, who explores life with autism by using unfamiliar word combinations that read like poems. Huiqi He creates quirky videos about identity, disorientation, and living life in a foreign country. Jacquelyn Strycker toys with the idea of backyard gardening straddled between artistic gesture, sustenance farming and quotidienne activity.

Guests were able to enjoy the immersive art installations, paintings, sculptures, videos, performances, live music by Comrad, food provided by Villa Italia and Village Social Rye, and drinks provided by Val’s.

The Gabriela Dias Foundation is proud to work with local projects and events targeting community engagement and launch social action through digital media campaigns that gets the community involved, audiences talking and action taking. Along with Sour Milk, GDF wants to provide unique contexts for artists and showcase their talent that is visually impactful to everyone.

Sour Milk and those involved in this amazing event understand that artists are increasingly unable to afford to live and work in NYC proper, they seek not just unconventional venues but unexplored locales.

A Fundação Gabriela Dias é uma orgulhosa Patrocinadora do Sour Milk Art Show 2018, que também se juntou à Longo Realty para organizar um evento cultural que combina arte visual, música, guloseimas saborosas e imóveis.

Os curadores Ben Quesnel e Christine Stiver reuniram um grupo de 22 artistas contemporâneos em uma casa vazia para concluir uma renovação imersiva de suas visões distintas com a crença de que espaços vazios, cobertos de ervas daninhas e coleta de poeira são oportunidades de transformação.

Os artistas transfiguram, transformam, criam e depois destroem. Com sua criatividade e poder para criar qualquer coisa que desejarem; nada é o limite por um dia.

Riffing no espaço anteriormente doméstico, os artistas no show inaugural jogar com o que as possibilidades de "casa" significa, significado e poderia tornar-se. Alguns objetos recicláveis retirados de suas habitações pessoais; alguns criam pinturas, performances e instalações que fazem referência e ensaiam histórias familiares; alguns criam trabalhos que exploram o transplante e a adaptação a lares estrangeiros. Simone Kearney catapulta o mundano para o cômico em suas absurdas configurações de mesa. Aaron Johnson recupera meias velhas para criar personagens grotescos. Como uma homenagem à sua mãe, Karen, que faleceu recentemente, Jim Condron combina compassivamente suas roupas e sapatos com yarrow e palha, enchendo e torcendo-os em formas misteriosas. Joe Bun Keo trabalha para entender seu filho, que explora a vida com autismo usando combinações de palavras desconhecidas que se parecem com poemas. Huiqi Ele cria vídeos peculiares sobre identidade, desorientação e vida em um país estrangeiro. A Jacquelyn Strycker brinca com a idéia de jardinagem no quintal entre o gesto artístico, a agricultura de sustento e a atividade cotidiana.

Os hóspedes puderam desfrutar das imersivas instalações de arte, pinturas, esculturas, vídeos, performances, música ao vivo do Comrad, comida fornecida pela Villa Italia e Village Social Rye, e bebidas fornecidas pela Val's.

A Fundação Gabriela Dias orgulha-se de trabalhar com projetos e eventos locais visando o engajamento da comunidade e lançar ações sociais por meio de campanhas de mídia digital que envolvam a comunidade, o público e a ação. Juntamente com o Sour Milk, a GDF quer fornecer contextos únicos para artistas e mostrar seu talento que é visualmente impactante para todos.
